American Conversation

Video Activity Course with American Teacher

Levels 1 - 4

The MLC offers 4 levels of English Conversation. students will have the chance to be exposed to proper English with a native speaker. First they watch a film, and then they are carefully engaged in conversation so that they will have a taste of simple, straightforward and good English, expressed in a natural situation.

The ultimate end is the gradual development of a capacity to speak good English readily and correctly.  Our placement test will determine your exact level, so you don’t have to fret about whether or not you have been rated for the right level, or about the possibility of being  out of place among the other students.

How are classes conducted?

Through 42 teaching hours our conversation classes are carried out in a comfortable, relaxed environment, so that you can learn at ease. A highly American qualified teacher will guide you through each course, using a modern syllabus, namely  What I Believe in order to enable you to develop a capacity to hone your language proficiency skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing.

It is common knowledge for any language learner or experienced instructor that  practice  makes perfect when it comes to learning a language. For this reason, classes are given for two hours daily, five days a week,  to ensure our students' constant practice and exposure to proper English.

Material

This course is based on the public radio series What I Believe, which features the unique voices of individuals from all walks of life,  sharing  personal philosophies and core values that guide their daily lives.

In addition to providing authentic listening practice, the course challenges students to explore, discuss, and write essays. It also engages and guides students in formulating, sharing, and discussing their own core values and beliefs.

Key Features

  • Getting Ready -- introduces students to the speaker and activates theirm knowledge of
       the speaker's topic.
  • Vocabulary for Comprehension and Glossary -- support students' listening comprehension.
  • Critical Thinking -- provides students opportunities to discuss central and related topics in a deep,
       meaningful way.
  • Background Notes and Culture Notes -- give students
       helpful background on essay content.
  • Focused Speaking Task --  includes instruction and practice with pronunciation and useful language as well
       as step-by-step speaking preparation.
