Learn Arabic Language in the authentic cultural environment of Amman

The Modern Language Center Arabic Language Study Abroad programs take place at the active city of Amman, Jordan. Our Arabic Language study abroad programs give students a unique opportunity to interact with Jordainan nationals and other international students while being completely immersed in the language and culture of Jordan. Arabic Courses for Non – Native Speakers

The MLC offers special Arabic language courses for non-native speakers of Arabic. The program concentrates on the four basic  language skills:  reading, listening, speaking and writing. This is done in accordance with the level of your knowledge of Arabic, classified for beginners , intermediate, or advanced learners.
Rather than focus solely on Classical Arabic, our program also includes Colloquial Arabic courses, thereby incorporating cultural learning into the curriculum, so that our foreign learners will be able to communicate effectively with native Arabic speakers throughout their everyday lives. Each aspect of the program is carefully designed to cater to non-native speakers. If you’re unsure where to start developing your Arabic skills, or need a place to brush up on your language, our course will provide you with the skills you need in a relaxing environment.

Content

• An introduction to Arabic and basic grammar.
• Aural – Oral skills, including listening to as well as speaking in the local dialect on topics related to everyday life situations.

Reading and writing skills, in which exercises and activities aim to:
1) Enable learners to read standard Arabic alongside informal locally spoken Arabic.
2) Enrich the learners’ vocabulary.
3) Help the learners to write correct sentences and to talk about themselves as well as other topics fluently.

Assessment

In order to keep track of the students’ progress, frequent check-ups on language level are conducted throughout the course. Quizzes, mid-terms, and final examinations are given in all courses, so that the instructor can follow your progress and note any impediments in your language development.
